Job Description: 

Seeking a highly self-motivated Linux Systems Engineer to join our growing ITOps Manhattan Team. The engineer filling this position will become the part of the team responsible for the maintenance and deployment of all Manhattan systems and dependent applications of our warehouse management systems.

This includes troubleshooting applications and system issues, monitoring, installing application upgrades, facilitating testing, maintaining production and lower application environments, and performing business analysis activities as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Administration of mission-critical software and systems, such as database and web applications
  • SaltStack configuration management
  • Monitor system logs and events
  • Lead team projects
  • Assist with security audit and compliance tasks
  • Documentation of architecture and standard operating procedures
  • Deployment and configuration of application environments
  • Proactive performance tuning environmental systems and applications to ensure optimal performance and maximum uptime
  • Work directly with supporting team members including DBA and Systems Teams to perform scheduled upgrades, modifications, and other maintenance activities for 3rd party application and web servers
  • Implementation of monitoring systems, procedures, and policies
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation, which requires functional knowledge of all production systems excluding database components to facilitate on-call support
  • Identify hardware, software, database, and configuration issues within the WMS applications
  • Communicate problem issues with other application support/business analysts, IT groups, and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
  • Manage changes to the application environment, ensuring appropriate testing, training, and deployment
  • Perform data queries, coordinate testing, train users and provide documentation
  • Work with other IT groups to ensure security procedures are maintained and adhered to
  • Perform backup of all applications and quarterly recovery test to ensure data integrity

Job Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT with a minimum of 3 years of Linux Systems Administration experience, or Manhattan WMS Applications and Web Services (IIS or Apache) clustering or similar role
  • Experience with various Linux distros and deployment and configuration of open source software
  • Solid organizational and communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills, with the ability to multi-task and deliver under tight deadlines
  • Interest in learning new technologies and working with proof of concepts to promote new solutions
  • Storage concepts, including iSCSI, fiber channel, LVM, and NFS
  • Understanding of multi-tiered applications
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure
  • Familiarity with at least one major scripting language, such as bash, python, perl, ruby, powershell, etc.
  • Experience supporting SaaS applications, including deployment methodologies that reduce downtime, such as Blue/Green
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, including OSI model, TCP, IP, routing, firewalls, and load balancers
  • Experience working with Oracle databases and basic SQL queries
  • Knowledge of security procedures and technologies, and an understanding of audit processes
  • Understanding of J2EE Java Development paradigm and Java technologies
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as SaltStack, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
