Job Description:     

   

This is a full time position which investigates products suspected of not meeting specification, identifying trends of repeat product investigations, working with various departments including QA, QC, R&D, Purchasing, Manufacturing, ME, raw material suppliers and manufacturers on investigations. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with QA, QC, Legal, R&D and Product Support for SAER (Serious Adverse Event Reporting) and AER investigations by analyzing product’s quality.

  • Attends to our internal complaint program (TerraCARE) to determine if investigation is deemed necessary, according to our Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

  • Reviews customer and international complaint investigations to ascertain, if possible, root cause, and determine corrective actions as applicable in order to increase quality of products.

  • Reviews batch records, retains, testing data, manufacturing, maintenance, and sanitation records to observe any deviations or non-compliances, following the requirements outlined on 21 CFR 111 Subpart O.

  • Interdepartmental collaboration via reviewing scientific literature on the safety of products and efficacy of processing methods in order to ensure high quality products.

  • Ensures compilation of documents associated with investigations in appropriate investigation files according to 21 CFR 820.198.  

  • Analyzes complaint trends to generate weekly and monthly reports on complaint investigation outcomes.

  • Identifies if CAPAs (Corrective Action/Preventive Action) are needed to prevent complaint recurrence in order to improve product quality.

  • Works with Quality Assurance Director to issue and monitor effectiveness of CAPAs related to complaints and returns in order to ensure quality of finished goods.

  • Assists Quality Engineer in the design, review, and execution of validation protocols for equipment, systems, and facilities to optimize manufacturing processes.

Job Qualifications

  • BS degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, biology or related field required

  • 2-5 years in dietary supplement Quality Assurance experience required

  • Must be able to demonstrate working understanding of 21 CFR 111; 117; 120 and FSMA

  • Knowledge of business analysis and computer tools:  Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Knowledge of chemistry, biology, and process engineering required.

  • Must have excellent analytical skills

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, both internal and external (i.e., suppliers, tech. support, etc.) by possessing excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills in English.

  • Discretion and judgment are required

  • Outstanding organizational skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task required

  • Must have the ability to work as a team, as well as to work independently

  • Ability to work with others to facilitate completing work assignments

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment and travel to contract manufacturing and warehouse locations as needed to complete investigations and inspections

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.  Must be able to walk, stand or sit for 8 hours unaided. Must be able to demonstrate ability to detect mm level defects visually, take and give oral instructions in a manufacturing environment
