The Specialist, Product Creative is responsible for driving unique, creative and design-forward concepts and execution for product and packaging design. This role partners closely with the Senior Director (head of department), product team, brand strategy, packaging procurement teams, and market stakeholders to concept, design and facilitate the execution of product packaging artwork.
Product packaging concepts and innovation:
Concepting product packaging for new product and new product ranges
Recommending materials, shapes/silhouettes, substrates, design decisions that support the brand’s distinctive and memorable style and advance our sustainability agenda
Creating prototypes and 3D renders of concepts to aid stakeholder discussions and anticipate solutions to problems
Making design decisions in consideration of the brand strategy, product categorization and the brand’s design system in context
Working with the procurement and operations for sourcing packaging solutions that do not compromise design vision and work within budgetary and operational constraints.
Product packaging execution:
Transitioning from new concept to finished artwork
Collaborating with product managers, production design and others to aid seamless artwork approvals
Executing on direction given by head of department or Manager with respect to product packaging deliverables.
Qualifications & Prerequisites:
2+ years minimum in a similar role for a brand or at an agency.
2-4 years industrial design and/or graphic design school, or equivalent experience. Further education highly favored.
Adobe Creative Suite (required), 3D design experience (required), Microsoft Office (required), Teams, Workfront, Asana (highly beneficial).
Experience with packaging materials and substrates, print process and creative production principles.
Proven ability to think conceptually: comes to the role with a creative portfolio of previous projects and product packaging work.
Innovative: is obsessed with keeping a finger on the pulse of design-forward brands, and has a demonstrated ability to use this as inspiration for generating packaging concepts that are contemporary, memorable and distinctive.
Strong communicator: confident when presenting and explaining strategic rationale for concepts and design decision-making. Understands the importance of being proactive and collaborative with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
